Just Another Monday Meme- Computer Specs

Heyyyy darlings! Long time no see!! I've finally gotten my crazy internet woes handled so I thought I would take the time to participate in a Berry Monday Meme!!


1. Share any of your computer specs (video card, memory, etc..) Click here if you don’t know any of those things or just share the year you bought it.

TO be totally honest, I don't know what any of this means. I usually let my techy hubs pick out everything and slap it together, but we'll give it a go!
My computer is a hodgepodge of things my husband has built and rebuilt for me over the years. I've got about 2 terabytes of memory, AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1045T Processor × 6, GeForce GTX 550 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 and I currently run on Unbuntu 12.04 64-bit (man i need to update).

2. Which viewer do you use most often?

I use Firestorm, the 64-bit for Linux. I've used Firestorm for a long time so I'm a little biased. Plus as a kid I need a viewer that supports the RLV for my Yuus/Nuuu Hud.

3. What is your FPS (Frames Per Second) when you have your graphics on ultra?

I actually generally tend to avoid Ultra settings because the tend to make my PC run hot (I need a new fan if my plane take off sounding monster is any indication). However when I run my own customized settings i run about 60+. At Ultra It drops to..18 which is tolerable for pictures and stuff.

4. How often does Second Life crash for you? Is it usually just a viewer crash or your whole system crashes? What are you usually doing at the moment of the crash?
Really the only time I crash is when my internet drops me, which really isn't my PC's fault. We've switched providers over the past few weeks so hopefully that will end! Super full and over scripted sims can *sometimes* be an issue but not horribly

5. Do you know of any tips or tricks in the settings that would improve performance?

I really don't, but lawd I could use all the help I can get! When something gets slower or uncool I tend to screech until hubster comes over and clicks on things. I don't even remember what normal settings are like any more :O

I mean, to the point where I own pretty much everything. I'm an addict. So when Kaityln came out with this adorable outfit for 3 different weekend events I about died. (I'm showing the Lazy Sunday one for 75L but I have em all! Eeeek)

The Courtyard- Are you Willing to Help?

Hello lovelies!

I recently received an interesting note from the lovely Libby Farleigh and I wanted to pass it on to you all! This is a call to arms for those of you involved in the kid community. I think this could be a really fun idea!!

Hi there,

I'm sending you this little letter with some information, ideas, and an appeal for help.

The Courtyard is an idea I've been mulling over for a few months. It came about from realising that apart from the adoption agencies and schools there's really nowhere for kids and teens to hang out with other kids, make friends and take part in organised activities.

My plan for The Courtyard is it will be a high quality kid and teen centred environment, open 24/7, but with weekly adult run activities including:

Brownies
Cub Scouts
Homework Club
Book Club (kids & teens)
Board Game Club
-plus more as The Courtyard grows

The idea is that these groups will be run and organised by parents and other adult community members. The Courtyard will be a strictly moderated environment to prevent griefing and potentially abusive situations. This moderation will be conducted by both kid and adult community members.

There will be several non organised activities available such as tennis, board games, swimming pool and more that will be freely available to all. Presently the idea is to have two The Courtyard groups. One which will be free to join for all from where information on clubs and activities will be shared, the other will be a pay to join group which will be for those members wishing to take part in the organised activities. This will be cleared every month and will be subject to a 400L monthly membership fee. Once in the paid group members will be able to take part in any/all organised groups they wish. The Courtyard will be a not for profit organisation and if we find the group membership fee is bringing in more than we need to pay tier, the monthly membership fee will be reduced accordingly.

As of now The Courtyard is being organised by me and my family, and although I am committed to making The Courtyard a success I know that will be made substantially easier with the kid & teen community's help. If you think The Courtyard sounds like a valuable addition to the kids, teens and families of SL there are areas I would really appreciate your input:

Setup (helping with the basic groundwork of getting The Courtyard up and running. Good at landscaping/decorating? Graphic design? Organisational superstar?)
Creators (Are you able to donate copyable versions of your creations in return for some advertising? We're going to need items of all description, furniture, decor items, landscaping items, maybe you'd like to create uniforms for our Brownies and Scouts?)
Marketing (help get The Courtyard out there! Rez an information poster at your store or business, send notices to your groups, this will all help!)
Volunteers (we'll need adult volunteers who'd like to help run the clubs, maybe start your own? We'll also need both kid and adult moderation volunteers.)

I'd also absolutely love people to come to me with their own ideas of how they'd like the help. The Courtyard isn't about me, or any particular individual or group, it's about creating a community space for all to enjoy.

 I think this is a truly fun idea. Libby's right, there aren't a whole lot of places where kids and families alike can go and just hang out, help each other and enjoy! I know there is currently a scout program out there, but as someone who didn't know until it was too late, having other options could bring a lot more kids together!

Yayy people! For once I actually had a few pictures! Fun fact, the wedding clothing and men's clothing I made! I may release them through [Blossom] at some point in random color sets!

Over The Rainbow- Easter Hunt

I am SO late on getting this out! Sorries!

Easter Egg Hunt now on, FIFTY Easter eggs to find all containing generously donated gifts for everyone!  And just ONE special GOLDEN egg, one per day only, for only one lucky finder!  All are welcome!  Hunt is for 10 days from today!  Please be sure to also check out our tenant's stores, there's amazing beautiful KittyCats and other cute critters waiting to be loved and adored!

There are some really great gifts involved. Well to be precise, [Blossom] has re-opened it's door at the Over The Rainbow Market!

Oh my gosh , you guys, so exciting!

First off let me tell you a little about [Blossom]. For those of you new to things I opened [Blossom] a few years ago. Due to some RL changes and my mainstore sim being closed, [Blossom] shut down in July of 2013. At the time I wasn't sure if or when I would be able to open again.

This past week has been a whirl wind of excitement, chaos and well stuff I don't need to air in public!

Thanks to my amazing family on Cali, I was given the opportunity to re-open my store. I've got tons of mesh and scultped clothing and shoes.

To celebrate our re-opening I have created a brand new dress for you all! There are 6 great options, each at a low price of 100L!

You will Find 3 basic color options and 3 floral top options! I really hope you enjoy!!

You will also find a brand new group gift in store as well as many older group gifts/freebies out for you too!!

My family has done something pretty cool. In fact they took a life long dream of mine and started making it a reality.

Over The Rainbow Market!

Over the Rainbow Market is a full service family friendly sim. You can look forward to a kitty/animal market place with seceral different sized stalls and stores to meet everyones needs.

There is also a Lovers Lane for Kittycats! Have you got a cat looking for a mate, or perhaps just too many cats to hold on to? Renters, you can sell your live and loveable cats on the cute little mushroom garden. Lovers lane is located in the enchanting Fairy forest. There are hidden snuggle spots for those romantic (but G rated) outings.

If you are like me, gachas can really break the bank sometimes! Be sure to check out the Over the Rainbow Yard Sale and kiddo playground! There are current stalls for rent as well as some items already set about from the most recent Arcade and Woodland creatures gacha events! Grab a stall and start selling!!

1. What is your SL family surname?

2. What is the make-up of your family? (Parents, kids, siblings etc)

Ohh My... Mama Gator, Daddy Gator. Grammy,Grampykins, Uncle Trav & The Twinsies. Graunties Cher & Isa, Guncle Chris. God Mama Stari, a bagillion Aunties! They just keep coming out of the woodwork I tell ya!

3. How long have you been in the SL family community?

I've really only been around a few months recently but i dabbled in being the adult parent years ago too.

4. When did you first hear about the SL family community and what was your view on it before you were in it?

I first started hearing about the SL family back in late 2008 early 2009. At the time I had some really mixed feelings. I thought kids were creepy and constant baby talkers. Clearly my tune has changed!

5. How did you join your (first) SL family?

I went to one of those adoption agencies. I had about zero clue who or what I wanted at the time. It happened pretty fast.

6. Do you have a kid avatar?

Yep! My kid avi is now prettty much my main avi.

7. Do you have an adult avatar?

Ayup! I've got a few haha that I use from time to time!

8. When did you first decide to make a child avatar?

I debated this for a while. I tried a teen avatar first, as that was what the first family was looking for. Then after being around a LOT of kids I decided I wanted to try it. I was told I had to choose one or the other because being both was "weird". To my surprise I had become more comfortable as a kiddo

9. Why do you play a child avatar?

It is so much fun! And one of the things I like is getting outside of my comfort zone. One thing I do as a kid that I often felt hesitant to do, is talk to random people. People are always saying hello and chatting with me. It's a neat thing. Plus it's SO much easier to snuggle with mama and daddy

10. What do you like about being a parent in SL?

Imma kid! I tried the parent thing a long time ago and it freaked me out a little because I felt more like the kid haha

11. Do you do family roleplay? If so, what kind of roleplay? Paragraphs, emoting – or just “acting like”?

I would say we do light role play. Mainly "acting like". We have family time, school and play dates with the twinsies. I think it depends on the mood every one is in.

12. Do you have any special family-related activities? (Dinners, camp etc.)

One of the first things that thrilled me about my family is the activities. We are always going on adventures! They love parks, playgrounds, kitty auctions and all sorts of things. When we made things official they even threw me a surprise rez day party! I'm enrolled in a school that someone in the family takes me to when I have classes. I'm looking forward to being a flower girl in a wedding next month AND going on a family vacation this week! Oh and I take ballet!

13. What is the thing you love most about your SL family?

I love how easy they made my transition feel. I was having a really down time and there was Mama just waiting to scoop me up! We just get each other. I was worried about entering into another established family, but my Unkie Trav McCooties really blew those fears out of the water. He sealed the deal with his eagerness to accept me, sight unseen. I just love them
